Brotherhood Of Hope

God First, God Alone

Through the Lord's abundant and undeserved mercy, we have been blessed to experience something of the mystery of the truth that Jesus Christ is All-Sufficient (cf. G&I: N&P 2). In response to this gift, we have given ourselves to live for Primum Deus, Deus Solum – God First, God Alone.

To live this exclusive and permanent relationship with Jesus Christ is a singular privilege and consummate joy! To imitate His state of life – He who revealed Himself as perfectly chaste, poor, and obedient – is to participate already in the glory of the life to come. To give whatever we can in response to Him who gave up everything for us and to strive side by side for Him and His Kingdom is to be "taken possession of by Christ Jesus" in a unique way (Phil 3:12). He is our treasure, our heritage, and our joy; to Him we gladly entrust our whole lives in the hands of a beloved Master and most dear Friend, eager to be good and faithful servants who share their Master's joy (cf. Mt 25:21; Ideal 19).

Animated by this relationship, in which we "live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28), we strive to proclaim, witness to, and have our lives reflect that the Lord's "grace is sufficient" to satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts (II Cor 12:9). To live together in Him and to serve Him is our response to His All-Sufficiency and is a gift not only for us brothers but also for the upbuilding of the Body of Christ (cf. S3).

Through our life of consecration – particularly through the vow of chastity, our fraternal life in common, the theological virtue of hope, and the vocation of Religious Brother, we desire to respond to the infinite gift of the Father's love revealed in the Son by the Holy Spirit as we live for God First, God Alone.
